Our Founder’s Story: Why I Chose Aesthetics
Our Founder’s Story: Why I Chose Aesthetics
Hi there! I’m Rachael, the founder of Coastal Aesthetic Nurse, and I’m thrilled to share my story with you.
For years, I’ve been a nurse in Norfolk, loving every minute of caring for others among the difficulty that nursing brings, especially during the pandemic at a busy hospital. But I always felt there was something more I could do, I went from working on the busy wards to being a practice nurse at a local GP practice.
Here, I loved the clinics I was running, and spending time with patients on a 1:1 basis as opposed to being rushed off my feet on the wards. I mainly enhanced my skincare knowledge, and still manage to do so, whilst working here. My clinics felt much more than healing and dressing wounds, but also led to empowerment over preventing wounds. How can we keep our skin healthy? I love this part of my NHS job and it led me into an interest in skincare and I thought “Why not combine my nursing skills with aesthetics?”.
I enrolled at Harley Academy to pursue an aesthetics business part time. After treating my first clients, and seeing them feel really happy with the results, I felt so pleased for them. It wasn’t easy juggling nursing with aesthetic training, but it was worth it! I fell in love with the idea of using science to enhance natural beauty, with patient care and comfort remaining at the centre of my role, both in my NHS and aesthetics work.
Now, I run this clinic alongside my nursing work, creating a relaxed space where you can feel truly cared for. Choosing aesthetics wasn’t just about changing careers. It was about finding a new way to care for aging skin. It’s not about ‘freezing’ or changing your face, but about subtly enhancing the amazing features you have.
